Hello, we are happy to introduce our Wigley Family!
Short introduction: One from Boston, one from Birmigham and 2 more beside!
Who am I?
I am Amy and I am writer of this blog. I was an only child while growing up, and a little spoiled. When I got married, I was not the most equipped to take care of the home, and those homemaking skills did not come naturally to me. In addition to basic homemaking, there were a few more kinks in the learning curve: one, our desire for a houseful of children, and two, our calling to homeschool. I discovered that I loved children and wanted to have many of them… but growing up an only child, I had no idea how large families did it, logistically speaking. Then, when we decided to homeschool, there was a whole new realm of parenting and multi-tasking that I was completely inexperienced with. Parenting kids makes life full of chaos, laughter, stress, fun and no two days are ever the same.
Being a parent is the hardest, but most rewarding job I have ever done and it doesn’t help that there is no job description or right way to parent. There is no parenting middle ground here, but that also means that there is no right or wrong way to parent, just the best way for your family.
I sought out tips everywhere, bombarding all my friends with questions about how they did it, reading all the organizing and homeschooling books I could get my hands on, and scouring the internet for answers to questions such as “how do you handle clothing storage?” “How do you keep up with laundry?” and “how do you find time to teach school, take care of the home, and still be a mommy?”
I am passionate about crafting and cooking, and can often be found in the kitchen teaching the boys (aged 9, 8 and 5) to make pizza dough, or making homemade gifts for family and friends. When not up to my eyes in flour or paint, I can be found writing about family life.
What we love to do the most?
As a family we love to go boating, golfing and going on walks around the lake in front of our house! Honestly, anytime we are together is great! We love spending time together!
In this blog, we are constantly reflecting back on things that we have documented that we would have forgot about!
What you can find on our blog?
Through all of the posts and a crazy amount of pictures, we hope to document the silly details of raising our two precious boys…and how we are daily striving to train them in the ways they should go.
You can check out recipes, educational resources, parenting tips and insights, organizational tips, homeschooling help and even video games! We are committed to providing the most comprehensive, ever-growing, information about children and how to deal with them. We show you that boys can craft, cook and be creative, as well as play sports. In fact we aim to show you that whatever girls can do, so can boys and vice versa.
It was nice to meet you!
